The M.A.W. (Mechanical Assault Walker) are enemies found in Afghanistan in Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix. A M.A.W. can be used by Royce Glas to attack enemies in both the Afghanistan military base and Xi'an during certain story events.

Story[]

Background[]

The M.A.W. was created by the U.S. military as the pinnacle of its weapons development program.

Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix[]

The M.A.W. is first seen when Royce Glas uses it to break through a gate while entering Xi'an. He later uses it to easily mow down a horde of Rejects that are after him. It is later destroyed when the ground gives way and it falls into a deep hole.

M.A.W.s are first encountered as enemies in Afghanistan during Glas's flashback . Glas is able to pilot one for a short while and bust through a building before it gets destroyed by a homing missile from a helicopter.

Characteristics[]

Generations of weapons research and billions of dollars in investments by the U.S. military enabled the creation of the M.A.W., a two-legged, heavily armored assault vehicle equipped with high-powered weaponry. The M.A.W. can easily withstand attacks from handheld weaponry and can cross terrain that most traditional vehicles would find impassible.

Strategy[]

M.A.W.s cannot be permanently stopped with weapons in your inventory. The only weapon in your inventory that can affect the M.A.W. is the EMP, which can temporarily shut down the M.A.W. by firing an electromagnetic pulse. M.A.W. pilots will reset the onboard systems, however, which will allow it to attack again. The only thing that can stand a chance against a M.A.W. is firepower from another M.A.W., or more creative weapons like explosive barrels.
